One company for the whole project.
Solar, electrical, construction and cooling for homes and businesses across the Valley. Licensed commercial and residential — so the company that starts your job is licensed to finish it.
Arizona-native, and built by people who did the installs.
We started in solar. We are now the company clients call for the electrical, the construction and the cooling as well — because those are the jobs solar work turns into.
Blackout Electric was founded in 2023 by Jonathan Garcia, who spent twelve years inside the solar industry before starting this one — installer at 19 with SolarCity, foreman at 21, then a project manager in Nevada overseeing more than 60 installation crews. He moved into sales afterwards and saw the same gap from the other side: homeowners being sold systems by people who had never been on a roof.
So this company was built the other way round. The people who quote your job are the people who do it. Nobody here works on a commission plan that pays more for a bigger system than the one you need.
What we became best at was the part of the trade nobody advertises: getting arrays off roofs and back on them, correctly, on somebody else’s schedule. That work brought us the roofing companies. The roofing companies brought us everything else — because once the array is down you find the service panel that cannot carry it, the wiring that will not pass inspection, and the system whose original installer no longer exists.
Today we hold an electrical licence with both commercial and residential scope, a carpentry and remodeling licence, and a qualifying party covering heating and cooling. One company can take a project end to end — the panel, the array, the structure it sits on and the system cooling the building underneath it — instead of handing you three phone numbers and a scheduling problem.
We work for homeowners, business owners, builders and other contractors across the Phoenix metro, from Mesa.
Four trades, one company
Seventeen services across solar, electrical, construction and cooling. Every one names the licence classification that covers it.
Getting an array off a roof and back on it, and putting new ones up.
Solar Detach & Reset
Panels off, roof replaced, panels back on and producing. Coordinated with your roofer, permitted properly, and reconnected by a licensed electrical contractor.

The homeowner’s version of the same job. If your roof needs replacing and there is an array on it, this is the sequence and the cost.
Read more →Detach & Reset on a Tile Roof
Most Arizona roofs are tile, and tile is where detach and reset goes wrong. Broken tile, disturbed underlayment, mounts re-set into the wrong course.

In-house design and install, sized to your actual usage and your utility’s current export rules — not to a sales target.

Orphaned Solar & Warranty Takeover
Your installer closed. Your panels are still on the roof and still under a manufacturer warranty someone has to file. We take the system over.
Read more →Solar Repair & Diagnostics
Production dropped, an inverter is dark, the app stopped reporting. Diagnosed by people who can also fix the electrical side, not just the panels.
Read more →Solar Maintenance
Inspection, cleaning, connection torque, monitoring set back up. An array in the Phoenix sun is not a fit-and-forget appliance.

Electrical Panel Upgrade
Modernise an outdated or undersized service so it can carry solar, a battery, an EV charger, and everything you already own.

Future-ready Level 2 charging on a properly sized circuit — with an honest answer up front about whether your panel can take it.

Store power for outages, peak usage and long-term energy independence — sized to the loads you actually need to keep running.

Arizona’s detach & reset specialists. No sales guys — just licensed electricians and solar professionals.
A large share of our work comes from roofing contractors rather than homeowners. They need the panels off before their crew starts and back on after they finish — without taking on the electrical liability of reconnecting a live, utility-tied system themselves. Removing panels is mechanical work. Putting them back is not.
It is the job we do more of than any other, and it is the reason a homeowner replacing a roof, a business owner with a dead inverter and a builder wiring a new development all end up calling the same company.
Solar does not stop being yours when the company that sold it closes
Arizona has lost an unusual number of residential solar installers in three years — including Titan Solar Power, headquartered in Chandler, which ceased operations in June 2024. Your equipment warranties usually survive that. Your installer’s workmanship warranty usually does not. Somebody licensed still has to diagnose the fault and file the claim.
Four things we will actually stand behind
We hold the electrical licence, not just a solar one
Most solar service companies in the Valley are solar-only. When a job turns out to need a service panel, a busbar fix or a re-pull, they have to bring in someone else. We are a licensed CR-11 electrical contractor — commercial and residential — so the whole job finishes on one truck roll.
Roofers are our customers, not our competition
A large share of our detach and reset work comes from roofing companies who need the array off and back on without taking on the electrical liability themselves. We schedule around their crew, not the other way round.
No sales guys
The people who quote your job are the people who do it. Nobody here is on a commission plan that pays more for a bigger system than the one you need.
We will tell you when the answer is no
Sometimes an array is not worth re-setting. Sometimes a panel upgrade can wait and sometimes it genuinely cannot. You get the actual assessment, in writing, either way.

“Blackout Electric came out quickly and took care of my broken lights, plus added a dimmer. The install is super clean and looks really nice. They also detach and reset a lot of solar panels for my roofing company, and they are hands-down the best in the valley.”
Pearce Baker Roofing company owner Google review
“They came out to my home and installed a brand-new service panel, and the quality of their work was exceptional. Their communication was top-tier. Every single day they were here, they made sure I was completely taken care of and understood everything that was happening.”
Erik Caballero Google review
“Last month I had my roof replaced. Black Out Electric came in and removed and reinstalled the solar panels. Both jobs were completed rapidly and professionally. I had two damaged panels that I wasn’t aware of until techs alerted me. Karen coordinated all work graciously and quickly found replacements.”
