A solar detach and reset is two visits, not one. We remove the array, racking and conduit so your roofer has clean, uninterrupted deck to work on, then come back after the roof is finished, re-mount into new flashings, reconnect the system and confirm it is producing. Why the electrical licence matters on this job
Removing panels is mechanical work. Putting them back and re-energising the system is electrical work — DC conductors, rapid-shutdown devices, inverter connections and a service tie-in that has to pass inspection.
Plenty of companies in the Valley will take an array down. Fewer are licensed to bring it back up properly. Blackout Electric holds a CR-11 electrical licence with both commercial and residential scope, which means the same company that takes it off is licensed to reconnect it.

The part most homeowners find out too late
Panels come off a roof more easily than they go back on. The two things that go wrong are mounts re-set into the wrong tile course, and damage discovered at reinstall that nobody flagged at removal.
We photograph and log condition at removal, so if a panel is cracked, a connector is degraded or an optimiser has failed, you hear about it while the roof is still open and something can be done about it — not on the day we are trying to hand the system back.

Do I need a permit to remove and reinstall solar panels in Maricopa County?
In most Valley jurisdictions a detach and reset that disconnects and re-energises the system requires a permit, because it is electrical work on a utility-interconnected system. Requirements differ by city. We confirm the requirement for your address and pull the permit as part of the job rather than leaving it with you or your roofer.
Will removing my panels void the warranty?
Manufacturer warranties on the panels themselves generally survive a removal and reinstall performed by a licensed contractor. What can be affected is a workmanship warranty from the original installer, and any roof warranty from your roofer. Tell us who installed the system and who is roofing it and we will tell you what we know before anything comes off.
How long does a detach and reset take?
The removal and the reinstall are each typically a single day. The gap between them is set by your roofer, not by us — most jobs run a few days to a couple of weeks apart depending on roof size and material.
Can my roofer just take the panels off themselves?
Some do. The reinstall is where it matters: reconnecting a utility-interconnected PV system is electrical work, and a roofing licence does not cover it. If your roofer would rather not carry that liability, they are welcome to call us directly — a lot of them do.
What happens if a panel is damaged?
We log and photograph the array condition at removal, so damage is identified before reinstall rather than discovered at the end. If a panel needs replacing we tell you what it is, what it costs and whether it is covered before we order anything.
