A solar-integrated cooling setup means sizing the array, the system and — where there is one — the battery against each other, so the largest load in the house is running against the hours the roof is producing hardest.

Why the timing works here
A Phoenix house draws its heaviest cooling load through the afternoon, which overlaps substantially with the hours a south and west-facing array produces most.
That overlap is the entire argument. It is also why the conversation has to involve whoever understands the array, the panel and the system together — a cooling contractor sizing a unit without looking at the roof is solving half of it.

Frequently asked
Can solar run my air conditioning?
During production hours, frequently a large share of it — the timing lines up well in Arizona. Running cooling overnight off stored power is a different and considerably more expensive proposition, because that is battery capacity rather than panels.
Do I need a battery for this?
Not necessarily. Without one you are using production as it happens, which for daytime cooling is most of the benefit. A battery matters most if your rate plan makes evening hours expensive.
Will this work with the solar I already have?
Usually. We will look at what the existing array actually produces and when, and tell you honestly whether adding cooling load to it makes sense before anyone specifies equipment.
