Arizona licenses contractors for a reason, and a licence number you cannot verify is not a credential. Here are all three of ours, with the state registry one click away.

#344757 is the one that matters most. It is a CR-11 electrical licence with dual scope — commercial and residential — which is what allows us to take on commercial and new-construction electrical work, not just residential. Our licences are held under the registered entity name Black Out Electric AZ LLC.

What a licence actually tells you

• The contractor carries a bond, which gives you recourse the state can act on
• A qualifying party passed a trade and business examination for that classification
• You can file a complaint with the Registrar and have it investigated
• The classification tells you what they are legally allowed to advertise and perform

That last one is worth understanding. A licence is scoped. A contractor licensed for electrical work is not licensed to advertise HVAC or roofing simply because they own a ladder. If a company is advertising a trade, the classification that covers it should be on their licence — and you can check.
