Production dropped, an inverter is dark, or the monitoring app quietly stopped reporting three months ago.
Most residential solar faults come down to one of five things: a failed inverter or optimiser, a degraded DC connection, a tripped or failed rapid-shutdown device, a communications fault where the system works but no longer reports, or an electrical problem upstream that has nothing to do with the solar equipment at all. A diagnostic visit tells you which, in writing, before anything gets replaced.

Common faults on Valley systems
Arizona is a hard environment for this equipment. Rooftop temperatures do real long-term damage to components that are fine in a milder climate.
- Inverter or optimiser failure — the most common single cause of a dead or halved system
- Connector degradation from thermal cycling
- Rapid-shutdown devices tripped or failed
- Monitoring offline after a router change, so the system looks broken and is not
- Rodent or bird damage to conductors under the array
- Breaker, panel or tie-in faults that present as a solar problem
Why summer production drops, and when that is normal
Silicon panels lose output as they get hot, and Phoenix rooftops reach temperatures that cost a meaningful share of rated output at peak. A July figure below your April figure is usually physics, not a fault.
A drop against the same month last year is a different signal. Bring us the comparison rather than the raw number and the diagnosis gets a lot faster.
Frequently asked
My app stopped reporting. Is the system broken?
Often not. Monitoring runs over your home network, and a new router or a changed wifi password will take it offline while the system keeps producing normally. Worth checking before you book anything.
Do you charge for a diagnostic?
Ask when you call. Whatever it is, you will know before we come out, and you will get written findings rather than a verbal quote for a replacement.
Can you work on a system you did not install?
Yes — that is most of what we do. Bring us whatever documentation you have; we can identify the equipment on site if you have none.
