A licensed Arizona contractor covering solar, electrical, construction and cooling — founded in 2023 by people who spent their careers on the roofs and in the panels first.
Why this company exists
Jonathan Garcia spent twelve years inside the solar industry before starting this one — from installer at 19 to foreman at 21 to project manager over more than 60 crews. Then he moved into sales, and saw the gap from the other side: homeowners being sold systems by people who had never been on a roof, with numbers nobody intended to stand behind.
Blackout Electric was founded in 2023 to work the other way round. The people who quote the job are the people who do it. Nobody here is on a commission plan that pays more for a bigger system than the one you need.
What the company turned out to be best at was the least glamorous part of the trade: getting arrays off roofs and back on them, correctly, on someone else’s schedule. That work brought the roofing companies, and the roofing companies brought everything else.
The people behind the work
Jonathan Garcia
Founder
Grew up around the trades — his father spent over a decade in electrical and another in roofing. Started with SolarCity at 19, made foreman at 21, and relocated to Nevada as a project manager overseeing more than 60 installation crews. After finishing at Tesla at 31 he moved into solar sales, saw how homeowners were being sold to, and founded Blackout Electric in 2023 to do it differently.
Fabian Rodriguez
Director of Operations
More than 20 years in solar, including six as a branch manager running multiple installation crews and departments. Leads operations with a focus on getting projects completed safely and on schedule.
Alexis Valenzuela
Director of Internal Operations
Over 10 years in solar operations, permitting, interconnection and project management. Handles the part of the process most homeowners never see — utility approvals, permit requirements and keeping a project moving from planning to final sign-off.
Miguel Rojo
Project Manager
Solar PV installer and project manager with over 10 years in the industry, across California, Texas and Arizona. Leads many of our solar projects. Back in Arizona to be closer to his daughters, and known on site for his cooking.
Rogelio Ulises Granados Sanchez is the Qualifying Party on all three ROC licences and is not currently named anywhere on the site. Karen, thanked by name in a customer review and listed as Office Manager in the AZ Roofing Contractors Association directory, is not either. Both probably belong on this page.
